19 months and still my favorite!

Have I mentioned how much I love this age? Well other than the tantrums. And the fact that 80 percent of diaper changes require us to yell at him until he cries because that is the ONLY way he'll stay still...if he's sobbing. How horrible is that? Unless we give him our iphone EVERY time, which I'm not going to create that habit. Blek.

Anyway. I love this age. Love it. He's hilarious and independent. But still so sweet and needs me.

Things he loves:
Slides at playgrounds, going up and down steps, jumping (he now can do it, especially if he starts out high!!), playing catch, organizing his diapers, matchbox cars, bringing us shoes and anything else we ask for, throwing things away, going through my purse, pointing out his pee-pee, playing chase, flashcards, petting Kramer, tormenting Kramer, giving Kramer anything that he has, stealing my chapstick, trying to put said chapstick on, throwing things into the bathtub, watching PBS shows or Yo Gabba Gabba, reading books or being read to, climbing up on our bed and get tackled by pillows and tickles, climbing on things that he shouldn't, drawing with sidewalk chalk, sprinklers and hoses, jabbering at dinner.....and so on.

He's added soooo many words... here are a few, but definitely not an exhaustive list as I can't keep up:

Slide
Away/way
Catchhhhh
Hot dog
Ta-da!
Peach
Darbi
Yabbadabbadoo
Shark
Jump

He's learned that the clucking with the tongue sound is what squirrels say. ;)  And he loves to find acorns out front. He'll bring them to me one by one. He still loves music, loves to dance. (Isn't that a Mary HIggins Clark book?)

He will fight me for a pillow if it's one of the fuzzy teal ones we have in our living room. Like he takes offense to it if I have it.

He holds up his hand to us if he doesn't want us looking at him, as if to say, "Talk to the hand." Seriously. And then I say, "Do you want me to leave?" and he says "yep." and I do. And he's happy.

He likes to bring his blankie with him now, around the house, and then will go "night night" at random times.

He also loves to "scare" daddy. This entails us just creeping up on Neil, and then Weston grabs Neil's shoulder and Neil will jump and holler and Weston erupts in laughter. Unfortunately, he hasn't mastered the "be quiet" thing on the way to scare daddy so daddy ALWAYS hears us coming because Weston's anticipation gets the best of him and he squeals before we can even get there.

If I'm sitting on the ground or the couch, he now will climb behind me and latch on to my neck...he wants a ride. Which is actually really good exercise for me. haha

If he doesn't get my attention with Mama, or Mommy...he says...DAH-BEE. Yep, he knows my name. Awesome. It's actually pretty cute cuz he'll chant it over and over cuz he knows he's not  really supposed to call me that.

If I tell him "mama is sad." and then make a sad face, he will stop what he's doing, come and lay his head on my knee or shoulder and hug me. I've trained him well. He can be very physical sometimes. He scratches and pinches and hits. Now as soon as he does that, rather than scold him and let it be, I tell him no and then demand that he say he's sorry and do a nice touch. That seems to work well to redirect him.

The big stumper is if he acts up, and I say, as a warning, "do you want to go to time out?" he'll say YEP. And he'll mean it. So I put him facing the wall and sometimes he's crying and other times he's looking at me from the corner of his eye with the devilish one-lipped grin and I know he's planning an escape. So somehow, time out is not a punishment but a game. Hmmmm.

He's been bumped up to the older class at daycare. He's 19 months but hanging with kids up to 28 months old! Which is good for him, but I do think he's being dominated in class as the teachers say he doesn't talk much, if at all. So it's making him a bit more submissive. I know he'll just suddenly erupt for them , but I hope he's comfy enough with the older kids soon so he can be as chatty there as he is at home.

We've accepted by now that his personality is one that will make him a watcher when overwhelmed. We had a babysitter, the same one we've always had, a few weekends ago and she said for the 2 hours he was awake with her, he was very well behaved, and active, but wouldn't say anything the entire time. He just stared at her. hahaha

Here are some pics!!!

4th of July (I wrote about it last time, but never posted pics. His cousins... he loves them.)

Gotta love the face he's making when blowing bubbles!!

He likes to run around in the library. And wear glasses like Grandpa Gibby does (on his shirt).

when he has as hose in hand, he's totally at peace. And with bubbles (the guitar blows bubbles and plays music), he's loving life!

I helped out at his daycare one day over lunch. Weston enjoyed pushing all the little ones around in the buggy. For like 20 minutes.

LOVE the wig. Makes him look like a real Hebrank!!! ;)

Trying to put diapers on Scout. And at the far right, take note of his feet!!!!! He passed out after Grandma and Grandpa left!

Two of my fave pics of him ever. :)
He's covering up Kramer with a blanket. Every kitty's dream. ;)

The goats were a bit tenacious.

He LOVES feeding ducks!!!! And jumping off ledges etc.
FAiled diaper changing  by him... and his face when he wanted more popcorn. ;)
 Again, he loves spraying water.

Shoes and tampons, Everyone's favorite toys!

I left for a few minutes and came back to him trying to playon my computer. He knows he's bad. And the other two...he steals my chapstick and then wont' let it go. Tantrum city after I take it away!
Waiting at the doc's office. ;)
HIs teachers from the last daycare class. And then on the right... the kids made apple trees. Weston was the only one of all the kids to put all theapples IN the tree where they belong. He's either genius or not creative. hahah

His 2nd haircut did NOT go as well as his first one. And on the right, he put on his own sunglasses and did THUMBS UP...his way. haha

Watching the polar bear at the zoo, eating his first corn on the cob...and then enjoying his ride!

I truly love this age. It gets better and better... and I have to giggle as he is learning more words and using them correctly! The excitement never stops. ;)
